Mazda MX-5 GT completes Silverstone three hour Britcar Endurance race
Mazda MX-5 GT shows enormous potential for the season
This weekend saw the inaugural race for the 275bhp Mazda MX-5 GT in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship at Silverstone.
The Mazda MX-5 GT qualified well for the three hour endurance race despite only having run for the first time on the 15th March. The Mazda MX-5 GT was running second in class until contact with another car damaged the differential, which necessitated a change. Although the Jota Sport technicians completed the differential change in just 15 minutes, it was enough to drop the car to sixth in class where it finished.
“This was very much a development race for us,” commented Sam Hignett, Managing Director of Jota Sport. “The car was only completed on the 15th March and first ran at a circuit the Monday before the race. We were very pleased at how the Mazda MX-5 GT ran and we see that there is enormous potential in the car. We have some work to do on the suspension and steering before the next race at Rockingham on April 17th, but the car is quick and reliable.”

Chevy Zr1 – the Fastest Production Car
The most powerful production car made is the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Moreover, it is American-made and is able to beat Ferrari’s and Lamborghinis. This $105,000, 2009 Corvette has a 638-horsepower motor which gives off an aura to those around it. The zero-to-60 time achieved in 3.4 seconds beats the $1 million Ferrari Enzo. The Vette’s rear brakes are similar to those on a $1.6 million Bugatti Veyron. Many onlookers do not often know the performance because it resembles its’ humbler regular coupe version. However, once you drive it, you will know the difference right away. It is a super exotic car that masks itself with Chevy’s bodywork.
Besides it being very recognizable, not much is shared with its basic cousin unless it is the interior, engine block and springs. Most noticeably, is the supercharger on the hood. On the outside, the ZR1 utilizes the 2006 Z06 body casing with even more light weight aluminum and high-tech body construction. The Z06 has a standard steel and fiberglass body. To compensate for the added weight from the supercharger, larger wheels and upgraded brakes, the roof is made of carbon-fiber material. Although, the weight distribution is better than that of the Lamborghini Murclielago and the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
Though the whole ZR1 concept seems to drive infinite without stopping, it is surely does stop from the huge Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes decrease speed as if they were rewinding a tape. So is the ZR1 the best thing besides apple pie? Well, of course not. It really deserves an interior design compatible with a $100,000 car, mainly one without a cheap chevy model’s steering wheel. By having 638 horsepower most who drive it need to try and let it run freely .The all new herculean ZR1 is considered the more beguiling because it is so refined — a quality few people associate with Corvettes. Though not perfect, the ZR1 is the most perfect ’Vette yet, and everyone can get behind that.

Ford Continues Lincoln Town Car Production
Lincoln Town Car, as earlier announced by Ford Motor Co., wins stay execution. It can be recalled that the automaker previously considered the closure of Wixom Assembly Plant in Wixom, Michigan. Along with said closure is the end of production for the Lincoln Town Car. Nevertheless, Ford ultimately decided to keep the flagship and move the assembly to St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada where Ford Panther platform vehicles such as Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis are built. Town Car’s production will resume in late 2007.
“The industry was already making deals. You can’t get caught like that,” says Neil Weiss, editor and publisher of Black Car News. The Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Chrysler 300 were the closest options to replace it but there’s no clean choice. He further added, “The problem with the Crown Victoria is the blue Ford emblem. We’d have to redesign the grill. As for the Chrysler 300, they have no trunk space and as great as they are, they don’t hold up.”
The recent announcement from Ford is like a breathing sigh of relief to those vehicle enthusiasts especially to the business executives as well as to limousine and livery service owners. The full-size sedan flagship of Lincoln in the luxury car division, features power Lincoln Town Car parts which include the V8 engine. Its main rivals consist of Cadillac DTS and Lexus LS 460. Notwithstanding its declining sales, Town Car is still one of the best-selling American luxury cars. It is also one of the most-used limousines.
However, car aficionados who desire to possess said car must first have a hefty budget because Town Car is currently the most expensive American luxury sedan with MSRP ranging from US$42,875 for a basic Signature Series to $56,745 for Signature L Series.
